Future Kitchen

Web enabled ceiling mounted projectors with cameras for gesture recognition allow for content to be projected and controlled from anywhere in the kitchen. This prototype I designed and built provides for a revolutionary immersive kitchen experience.

A new way to cook

Cameras can monitor the amount of food and water used in cooking and communicate the ideal amount needed for any recipe.

Item recognition

UI and controls are projected only when needed. Induction technology for cooking is hidden under seamless surfaces.

“John has built an amazing and visionary prototype for us. Great Work - we are convinced about his ability to transfer a future idea to a successful product.”

Intelligent control

UIs become more fluid and appliances can be synced to ensure all food is ready at the same time.

Gesture recognition

Interactions are no longer limited to be on the appliance and can instead be invoked and controlled from anywhere in the kitchen.

I was the lead designer on this project, it was developed with support from the head of advanced design Matthias Stahl at Miele’s design headquarters in Gütersloh, Germany.
