John Costello — Product Designer

John Costello is a product designer based in San Francisco, California. He currently designs AI experiences at Apple, and has previously designed products at Google, Uber (JUMP micromobility), Miele, Adobe, and Sutter Hill Ventures. His work spans mobile apps, web, hardware, interaction design, and design systems.

Selected work

• Vehicle Motion Cues — Apple. A system that lets people read, work, and watch on screens in moving vehicles without motion sickness, shipped on iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
• Fleet Operations Platform — Uber / JUMP. Lead designer for micromobility operations: the mobile, iPad, and web tools fleet teams used to deploy, locate, service, and rebalance shared bikes and scooters across 18 cities.
• Leto. An availability-first marketplace for booking local services, designed end to end across customer app, provider app, business iPad app, and web.
• Future Kitchen — Miele. A concept reimagining the kitchen experience with projected, surface-based interfaces, prototyped at Miele's Advanced Design center in Gütersloh, Germany.
